FAQ - Personal health screening

What is the advised frequency of screening?

It is recommended that the frequency of screening be determined by age, medical history and clinical findings at the time of the clinical examination.

A guideline relating to age criteria is as follows: -

  • Aged up to 50 years  - every 2 years.
  • Aged 50+  - every year.

How long will the screen take?

Platinum 2 hours 1 hour Physician/30 minutes Nurse/30 minutes exercise ECG
Gold 1.5 hours 1 hour Physician/30 minutes Nurse
Silver 1 hour 30 minutes Physician/30 minutes Nurse
Bronze 1 hour Nurse Based

How do I book an appointment?

For appointments at The Courtyard, Wincham:

Please contact Jan Arden at PMI Health Group directly to arrange an appointment on 01606 354084.  Cancellations or alterations with less than 5 working days notice, will be subject to the full fee.

For Nationwide appointments:

PMI Health Group will co-ordinate and liase with all screening centres.  We can arrange for each individual to be contacted either by telephone or letter inviting them to attend their Executive Health Screen.  Alternatively, we can provide contact telephone numbers of each screening centre, if individuals prefer to telephone direct for an appointment.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to have a pair of shorts, a large T-shirt and a pair of trainers or thick socks if you are undergoing an exercise ECG (following the exercise ECG clients have the option to take a shower).

If preferred, a sample of Urine, passed on the day, can be brought.  If not, one can be provided at the appointment.

A list of current medication.

If you wear contact lenses or glasses, please have them with you.

Do I need to do anything before my screening?

Please ensure that you complete the questionnaire provided and bring it with you to the appointment.

Do I need to fast?

Your Cholesterol Test

On the day you may drink water up to your appointment time, but please avoid food and other drinks for 14 hours prior to the test.  This will enable us to undertake a precise lipid and blood sugar test.

If you are unable to do this, please eat only dry toast and drink only water, tea or coffee without milk or sugar, no later than 4 hours before your appointment.

Is VAT applicable?

VAT is not applicable on health screening services.

Reporting of results to you

The results of investigations carried out are discussed by the Physician at the time of the assessment.  A report is provided giving the results of any investigations not immediately available and summarising any advice given verbally.

Consent

When you attend, the nurse will ask you to sign a Consent Form to permit us to write to your GP with any clinical findings which need attention.

You will also be asked to sign a specific Consent Form if you are to undergo the Exercise ECG Treadmill test.
